Book Description

Artificial intelligence (AI) depends on data. In sensitive domains - such as healthcare, security, finance, and many more - there is therefore tension between unleashing the power of AI and maintaining the confidentiality and security of the relevant data.

This book - intended for researchers in academia and R&D engineers in industry - explains how advances in three areas - AI, privacy-preserving techniques, and acceleration - allow us to achieve the dream of high performance privacy-preserving AI. It also discusses applications enabled by this emerging interplay.

The book covers techniques, specifically secure multi-party computation and homomorphic encryption, that provide complexity theoretic security guarantees even with a single data point. These techniques have traditionally been too slow for real-world usage, and the challenge is heightened with the large sizes of today's state-of-the-art neural networks, including large language models (LLMs). This book does not cover techniques like differential privacy that only concern statistical anonymization of data points.

The AI Ladder

AI may be the greatest opportunity of our time, with the potential to add nearly $16 trillion to the global economy over the next decade. But so far adoption has been much slower than anticipated. With this practical report, business leaders will discover where they are in their AI journey and learn the steps they still need to take to implement an

NGINX Cookbook, 2nd Edition

Nginx

NGINX is one of the most widely used web servers available today, in part because of itscapabilities as a load balancer and reverse proxy server for HTTP and other network protocols. This revised cookbook provides easy-to-follow examples of real-world problems in application delivery. Practical recipes help you set up and use either the open source

Ray Tracing Gems

This book is a must-have for anyone serious about rendering in real time. With the announcement of new ray tracing APIs and hardware to support them, developers can easily create real-time applications with ray tracing as a core component. As ray tracing on the GPU becomes faster, it will play a more central role in real-time rendering. Ray Tracing
